THE SPICE ISLAND 

The Spice Necklace
the decorative necklace (not jewelry) is comprised of many spices grown in Grenada.
Cinnamon, turmeric, Cocoa beans, Cloves, Nutmeg / mace, Bayleaves, ginger
and embellished with tonka (tonquin)  (white) and *Jobs Tears (red) seeds
*mine are made to order because the Jobs Tears have to have holes drills through them

Riding the local bus is ALWAYS interesting ... and crowded
Many of the buses have a conductor.  He 'mans' the door and looks for potential riders. hanging his head out the window and snapping his fingers to signal the driver when he finds a rider.
He also decides how many people can 'fit's the bus...  they are NEVER too full; there is always room for one more.
*You jus' make u self small... so the next person has a seat*

River Antoine Estate Rum Distillery
Established in 1785
It is the oldest rum distillery in Grenada.  It is still run the traditional way... water wheel / river powered .... fueled with wood and spent canes.

HIGH proof rum... so strong it is illegal to take on a plane

Sorrel... a lovely drink; tea,  juice or rum punch ingredient 

a small band of Caribs (native inhabitants of the Caribbean) chose
to jump (leap) to their death over the cliff rather than surround to the invaders...

Sometimes the boats get a little too aggressive and have to be towed back... there hulls flooded

Caribbean sheep usually don't have the traditional wooly coats.  They are kept for milk and meat
