Happy New Year! Winter weather advisory for tonight and tomorrow.
Michigan winters mean long, cold days and nights so we are limited to dreams of sailing while SV Inishnee is on the hard. We do get to enjoy "boating" though. It's what we call time spent repairing and improving things while we wait out the weather. Foremost on the list, she's getting a bottom peel. The purchase survey revealed numerous blisters and we knew we would have to address the issue in her future. Jim has been making modifications on the mast while it is off the boat for 2 new halyards. He is also redoing the electrical systems to make us more efficient and safe on future voyages.
We had the pleasure of welcoming 2 new members to our family. First, Mrs. Nicole (Mesch) Nee married our Alex this November. We are overjoyed for them both.
Next, Miss Kitty joined us to help with the rodent (chipmunk) control. Unfortunately, Miss Kitty did not make it past her first vet visit. It was discovered she was a he. So, Mr. Kitty came home with his somewhat befuddled owners. We had a good laugh and is seems he could care less about being "Miss or Mr". He still comes when and if he wants to.
In March we will welcome Miss Amanda to our family. Son Stephen will be tying the knot to his long time girl friend. We couldn't be happier for them. As a bonus, we get to escape the Michigan weather to sunny Florida for the ceremony.
Spring break will take us to California to visit friends and spend some time site seeing, followed by yet another wedding this summer for our lovely Maria to her beau of many years, Jon. Denver and a "Dude Ranch"! Ye Ha!
We will then welcome our family and friends to our home to celebrate these joyfully events.
Till then.
I hope you are happy and well.
